Dr. Guo is the Director of the Shanghai Research Centre for Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM) Modernization, Chinese Academy of Science. As a Professor of Pharmacognosy, Dr. Guo also teaches pharmacognosy to undergraduate, master and Ph. D students at the prestigious Chinese Peking University. Having completed a Ph.D in Parmacognosy at the School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Beijing Medical University, China, followed by postdoctoral studies in Plant Biochemistry at the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry, Texas Tech University, USA, Dr. Guo’s wealth of knowledge is a valuable asset to the students and industry members alike.
Background
Dr. Guo has been a member of the editorial boards for a number of influential international journals including Journal of Ethnopharmacology, Planta Medica, Phytomedicines, Phytochemistry Letters, Natural Product Communications, Journal of Integrative Plant Biology, and Acta Pharmacologica Sinica.
Achievements
With over an astounding 380 scientific papers published, 250 of which are SCI journals, Dr. Guo offers much know-how as an internationally recognised expert in the fields of phytochemistry and Traditional Chinese Medicines (TCM). Dr. Guo currently chairs the Natural Medicine Committee of the Chinese Pharmacopeia Commission, a state committee overseeing the standards for all TCM and herbal medicines. Dr. Guo also serves as the Panel Member of the Drug Evaluation Committee, Chinese State Food and Drug Administration (SFDA), Associate Editor-in-Chief, the Chinese Pharmacopeia, and the Advisory Board Member and Board of Directors of the Society for Medicinal Plant Research.
