Dr. Ma received his Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Sciences from the School of Pharmacy & Biomedical Sciences at the University of Portsmouth in England.

Prior to CPC, which Dr. Ma founded in 1996, he was engaged in the research and development of natural pharmaceutical products at universities, various other academic institutes, and many related enterprises in Asia, Europe, and North America since 1978. He is also the author of over 100 research and scientific publications. Dr. Ma has participated in the research and development on the standardization of botanical products for the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada and participated in the Ginseng Evaluation Program of the American botanical Council (ABC). Dr. Ma is on the Association of Official Analytical Chemists (AOAC) Expert Review Panel, and is the author of the chemistry and quality control section of the North American Ginseng Monograph for the American Herbal Pharmacopoeia. He is a member of the ABC-AHP-NCNPR Botanical Adulterants Program Industry Laboratory Expert Committee and a member of the Standards Council of Canada’s Mirror Committee. Board Member of Natural Health Product Research Society of Canada (NHPRS). Vice Chairman of the 2nd Board of Specialty Committee of TCM Pharmaceutical Analysis of World Federation of Chinese Medicine Societies.
