She is the author of over 10 research and scientific publications. Dr. Ma has participated in the research and development on the standardization of botanical products for the National Research Council (NRC) of Canada.

Dr. Jie Ma took part in the establishment of HPLC profiles for a large variety of North American and Chinese herbs and multi-ingredient products such as Ginkgo biloba ,North American Ginseng, Rhodiola，Echinacea, and Golden Seal. Much like fingerprints, these profiles are used to determine identity, potency, and potential adulteration in the raw material supply chain and finished product testing.  The above mentioned research and development of Ginkgo biloba, Rhodiola rosea, Panax notoginseng and Ganoderma lucidum has been used in preparation of monographs and standard reference extracts for United States Pharmacopoeia and these results have been adopted as industry standards
